We have not brought our son home yet, but our best friends who adopted from Ethiopia get plenty of stares and interesting--or even rude questions.&lt;BR/&gt;&lt;BR/&gt;That said, I don't think it is right to refer to "those" people as your daughter's birth-family. Bad parents are everywhere in every race...the same can be said for loving families who offer their homes and their hearts to a child that needs them.&lt;BR/&gt;&lt;BR/&gt;Most of us that think we are not racist still find that we hold racist attitudes. The issues are the same and I think we have to perform some educational efforts to enlighten our communities.&lt;BR/&gt;&lt;BR/&gt;"Given close enough proximity, white people are almost always compelled to question our relationship with her. "So who do we have here" they ask, hardly veiling their anxiety.
